The Gulfport High Singers Make It A Clean Sweep
The Gulfport High Singers were truely magical at Festival Disney this year. The Concert Choir won Best In Class, with the highest score in their classification. The Madrigals won Bronze, with the third highest score of any Specialty Choir in all classes. At the same times, the Women's Choir took Silver, with the second highest score of any choir at the festival. This was an echo of an outstanding year. Every choir and ensemble of the school earned ratings of Superior at the District VIII Jr. High and Sr. High choral festivals, as well as at the Mississippi State Jr. High and Sr. High chorral festivals. The Women's Choir and Concert Choir also won the Sweepstakes award, the highest award available to senior high choirs.
The Gulfport High Singers have a long and storied past, going back to the school's founding in 1925. We offer an exciting variety of musical opportunities for our members.
21 students were selected for the Mississippi All-State Honor Choirs this year. This represented the largest delegation in the school's history.

Choir's Class of 2012 Prove to Be An Amazing ClassAs of Senior Awards Night, the class of 2012 at Gulfport High School had won $9,500,000 in scholarships. Choir members earned around 14% of that total dollar amount. While the average GHS graduate was offered approximately $21,400, the average choir member received offers for $38,250.
While many of our members will start their college experiences at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, we also have students going to Bellhaven, the University of South Alabama, Pearl River Community College, Troy State University and as far away as Ithaca.
Aubrey Hays ('11) returned to the GHS campus as part of Vassar College's Night Owls, the nation's oldest continuous a cappella all-female music group. The Night Owls provided a lively performance and vocal workshop before returning to New York.
